May 13, 2016 – A new ECA Standard Practice has been published by ASTM regarding the examination of carbon steel welds using eddy current array. This newly active standard “covers the use of eddy current array sensors for nondestructive examination of carbon steel welds. It includes the detection and sizing of surface-breaking cracks in such joints, accommodating for nonmagnetic and non-conductive coating…”.
This is an important milestone in the history of eddy current array, as the standard is providing guidance and standardization for such a critical and mainstream application. To learn more about the standard it can be found on the ASTM International website.
